On 3 May, The Competition Council of the Republic of Latvia (the CC) made a decision to allow the owners of SIA AGROCHEMA LATVIA and SIA GASCHEMA \u2013 the UAB koncernas \u201cACHEMOS GRUPE\u2019\u2019, that is registered in Lithuania, to purchase assets of Lithuanian company UAB \u201cLITAGRA\u201d. The CC`s made the decision according to LEADELL`s legal opinion which shows that the merging transaction will not impact competition on any of the markets.<\/p>\n
UAB koncernas \u201cACHEMOS GRUPE\u2019\u2019 will purchase trade business and grain storage services company of UAB \u201cLITAGRA\u201d group. The operation of SIA \u201cAGROCHEMA LATVIA\u201d is focused on fertilizer wholesale, but SIA \u201cLITAGRA\u201d \u2013 on plant protection retail trading. These companies that are registered in Latvia will continue to run separately.<\/p>\n
\u201dDuring drafting of the legal opinion it was recognized that this merging will affect four markets \u2013 fertilizer wholesale, fertilizer retail trading, grains wholesale and plant protection product retail trading. The structure of the market will not change essentially because of the merging, it will not harm the competition (in any of the markets) and there will be no dominant position in any of affected markets.
